Lies, Damned Lies, and Jimmy Kimmel

As most of you are aware, our own Senator Bill Cassidy is co-sponsoring a bill to replace Obamacare.   In an interview yesterday with 710 KEEL’s Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty, he explained the bill,   saying that it  “will give resources to the working families to buy their own insurance. We don’t give the money to the insurance company, we give it to the family.”

The entire interview can be found here.

In a new development that surprises no one, Senator Cassidy’s bill is now catching criticism from a famous  Hollywood celebrity:  Jimmy Kimmel.  In an extended monologue on his show last night, Kimmel slammed Cassidy saying that “This guy, Bill Cassidy, he just lied right to my face… For lots of people, the bill will result in higher premiums.”

Well, bless his little heart.  It’s moving  to know that the Obamacare fan club is so deeply concerned that health care premiums are effecting peoples’ pocket books.

More on that in a moment.

In the same monologue, Kimmel said that his son had recently had open heart surgery.  He went on to say that under the Cassidy- Graham bill,  “…your child with a preexisting condition will get the care he needs — if, and only if, his father is Jimmy Kimmel. Otherwise, you might be screwed.”

So the critics’ basic argument against the Cassidy bill can be summed up as   “premiums will skyrocket and  children will suffer.”  That’s a compelling,  completely original argument that has never been used by any politician ever in the history of the world.

If you sense sarcasm in that statement, congratulations on being perceptive.

What Mr. Kimmel (and others like him) don’t realize is that under Obamacare, premiums are already sky high and kids with pre-existing conditions are already struggling to get  coverage.  The  nightmare scenario that Kimmel presented is already happening under the very bill he is defending.

In a recent press conference where he discussed the bill, Cassidy mentioned my friend Moon Griffon.

“I will use the example of a fellow named Moon Griffon, who is a talk show host in Louisiana. He is a self-employed person. Moon’s got a special needs child. Moon’s premium per year is over $40,000, with a $5,000 deductible and an additional pharmaceutical deductible.  Think about that. He is going to pay $50,000  a year between his premiums and his deductibles.”

If you are a regular Moon Griffon listener  (and you should be)  you’ve no doubt heard about how his health care costs have soared since the introduction of Obamacare.   On his show, Mr Griffon has stated that if they continue to climb, he will not be able to pay for both his home mortgage and his health care costs.

He’s currently contemplating selling his current home that he’s paying a mortgage on and paying cash for a house that is smaller in order to make ends meet.  This  is just one example of how Obamacare is driving down the American standard of living.

Jimmy Kimmel is telling horror stories about what “might happen” to the children, and about  how peoples’ health care  premiums will soar if the Cassidy- Graham bill is passed.

Well, the  pain and suffering  that Mr. Kimmel outlined in his speech is already happening. And it’s happening under an existing piece of legislation known as “Obamacare.”
